The Beaver Falls boys' basketball team is 7-1 and ranked No.2 in WPIAL Class AA behind Monessen. Tigers star senior guard Sheldon Jeter says the one loss is largely responsible for the seven victories.

Beaver Falls was upset by West Middlesex 60-58 in its opener at the New Castle Tipoff Tournament. Since then, Beaver Falls has reeled off seven consecutive victories, including beating Lincoln Park (66-57) and Central Valley (58-24) to win the C.J. Betters Holiday Classic last week at the Community College of Beaver County Golden Dome.

Lincoln Park is ranked No. 1 in WPIAL Class A by the Post-Gazette.

"It taught us a lot of things," Jeter said of the loss. "It made us look in the mirror and say we're not invincible. Now we have something to prove because people are going to doubt us because we lost that game."

Beaver Falls returns to WPIAL Section 6-AA play tonight when its hosts cross-river rival New Brighton (2-7, 0-2).

The Tigers won their lone section game against Quaker Valley, 86-54 on Dec. 16. That remains the only loss this season for the Quakers, who are 6-1 and No. 5 in the Post-Gazette's WPIAL Class AA rankings.
